I use insight-oriented therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy and skills from motivational interviewing to treat adults.

Children and families: I provide outpatient therapy to children ages 5 to 17. As much as possible, I try to include parents in part of each session. I work with children to address a variety of mental health issues such as:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)

  • Adjustment disorders

  • Past history of trauma

  • School problems

  • Conflict with siblings

  • Autism spectrum disorders

  • Bereavement and loss

  • Parental divorce

  • Adjustment after moving to a new location

I use play therapy techniques, simple art/craft techniques, cognitive behavioral therapy, and family therapy techniques to treat children and help their families. It is very important to me to have parents participate in the sessions.

Adolescents: I work with adolescents who are dealing with a wide variety of issues, including:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)

  • Adjustment disorder

  • Conflict with parents and siblings

  • Difficulties in school

  • Identity issues

  • Loss and bereavement

Although I include parents in some sessions, I also meet with adolescents alone to give them time and privacy to share their concerns. I use cognitive behavioral therapy, some insight-oriented work, problem-solving techniques, motivational interviewing skills,  and family therapy in working with adolescents.

Parents: I also provide outpatient mental health therapy to parents who are dealing with issues related to their children. Parents often need support in setting limits and having reasonable expectations of their children. Parenting is a difficult and very important job, and parents need support and skills to navigate life situations and obstacles. I use cognitive behavioral therapy, some insight-oriented work and problem-solving techniques, and motivational interviewing skills to help parents.

I provide outpatient mental health therapy to adults, children, adolescents, and families as follows:
